Four New Titles!

April 2nd, 2008

On March 29th and 30th, the Dragsters were in Nashville for the Music City Road Dogs 3rd annual Wired for Sound Flyball Tournament. We ran two teams, the Hot Rods and the Low Riders. Most of our experience was on the Low Riders and the Hot Rods were running 14″ hurdles as they had no height dog. The Low Riders came in Third Place on Saturday and managed a Second Place finish on Sunday in division 5. The Hot Rods were running in division IV and didn’t fare as well running with all of our new dogs on 14″ hurdles. But in spite of it all we had four dogs get new titles! Congratulations Griz, Bella Bop, Riley and Blaze.

Club Thank You!

February 26th, 2008

The Club would like to extend a big thank you to Ron and David Smithfield, Smithfield Manufacturing, for letting us invade the plant for practice. On those snowy, wet or just cold days Ron and David have generously allowed us to use a portion of the plant for practice. After the use of a couple of brooms and laying out the mats we can practice indoors out of the weather, with plenty of light.

Thank you Ron and David!

U-Fli Division 7 National Champions

November 24th, 2007

The Droolin Dragsters made the eleven hour trip to Canton, Tx to compete in the U-Fli National Championships on November 10th.
We drove down on Friday and set up the dragster area at Arbors III, the competition site before checking into the hotel. Racing on Saturday started early, and found us racing against teams in division 5 & 6 as we were the only team there in division 7. We had a few errors but managed to run clean and complete most of our runs to take first in our division.

Sunday was the Y’all Come Flyball Tournament. We had some good clean runs and pulled in some faster times. We came in 3rd place in our division on Sunday. We finished up racing and headed back to the hotel about 8pm.

Monday morning found us back on the road headed for home.

We Qualified for the Nationals

August 22nd, 2007

The Gamblers hosted a U-Fli qualifier tournament in Talladega, AL on August 18 and 19. The Dragsters were there. We had only one team but it was an amazing day, we not only qualified for the Nationals in Canton, TX in November but we completed every heat. It wasn’t our fasted day on record but it was a great day for running error free. Sunday was almost as good, we were just a little slower but we completed all but two heats. We are all set to go to Canton and compete in Division 7 at the Nationals.

The Team

Summer Shootout Flyball Tournament

August 22nd, 2007

June 30th and July 1st the Droolin Dragsters were in Bessemer, Alabama. The Hot Rods and Low Riders were both running. Kara made the long drive up from Louisiana to meet us and let Blue and Bandit has some fun, although we are not sure that Bandit considers flyball fun. Like most tournaments we had some good moments and some not so good. But the weekend was fun and we came home ready to go again.

Agility Qualifying Run

June 25th, 2007

Saturday and Sunday, June 23 and 24, found Gary and Kim in Murfreesboro for an Agility Trial. This was Gary & Mikki’s second trial and Kim & Riley’s first. Mikki did great on Saturday. She not only qualified in both the standard and jumps with weaves but she came in 1ST in both. It was exciting for them. Sunday wasn’t as productive no one qualified - but they had a great time running the courses.

Barkin in Memphis

June 25th, 2007

June 9th and 10th found the Droolin Dragsters in Memphis for the Barkin in Memphis U-Fli tournament, hosted by Fetchin Frenzi. This was our very first tournament to run two teams. Both the Hot Rods and Low Riders got to run. We learned it is a lot more work running two teams, a lot less down time but more fun. We had two dogs, Mikki and Amber, receive their next U-Fli titles, Top Flight 1. We had 5 dogs, Autumn, Katie, Mr. Blue, Bosco, and Max, earn their top flight title.
Amber had a rough day Saturday - being chased by the opposing team three or four times and even getting slobbered on by one overly frisky lab. Sunday had her tired and even more timid than usual. Katie and Mr. Blue both did great although Katie decided she wanted to go back to her crate during one race on Sunday. I think she was telling us she had had enough (she was pulling an Amber-running to her crate). Mikki ran all weekend but she was definitely not feeling well. I just hope the hotel will let us back in next time we are in Memphis - it is not easy cleaning up after a sick dog with no cleaning supplies. Miss Blue did her usual great runs - even without Mom. Mom (Kara) being military was off doing work while the rest of us got to play. Her substitue parent (Steve V) was kept busy running Miss Blue and Bosco while his dad (our other Steve) was also off doing his military thing. Autumn was also running great with her Doxie ears just flying. Jasper and Max took turns being the height dog for the Hot Rods and keeping Mom Sarah busy. Little Bandit even got to run his share of races trading off with Autumn and once taking Katie’s spot.
